As you can see, the main nav bar was cluttered and confusing to users. There was also no clear message of what the company does or what value it could offer clients.
The main message, “Maklee makes it possible” didn’t convey anything specific. Makes what possible? What can Maklee offer me?
The dark color scheme and background along with the fireball didn’t convey professionalism, expertise or trust.
We first met with Maklee’s management team to gain a clear understanding of their business objectives and what they were seeking to accomplish with their website. Based on that discussion, we edited and reorganized some of their existing content and recommended specific pieces of additional content. We also created a new information structure for the website that was user friendly and easily navigable.
We then designed three separate and unique landing pages for the company’s two new software products and consultancy practice. We created marketing copy for each page geared to persuade potential customers to either download a free trial or contact the company. We crafted the main marketing copy on each page, including the homepage, to clearly and effectively communicate the unique selling or value proposition of Maklee or its respective products and services.
The new main message we developed for the homepage was:
SPEED UP YOUR ORACLE DATABASE 2X
Maklee specializes in optimizing Oracle databases so that they run at least 2x faster.
If you’re an Oracle database administrator, Maklee’s target customer, speeding up you’re database is exactly what you want to accomplish. We added two buttons right below this message, giving the user the choice to either “Learn more” or “Schedule free consultation”.
We chose WordPress as the platform for the new website because of its stability, scalability and its easy to use content management system that allows clients to maintain and update their website inhouse.
We then completed designing and building the entire website with the updated content, optimized each page for SEO and added and configured plugins to secure the site from hacking attacks and to make sure it loaded as quickly as possible. We also made sure that the site was responsive, so that it looks equally great on desktops, tablets and mobile devices.
Take a look at the screenshot of the new website to the left of this column. The new homepage clearly displays Maklee’s three distinct products, offering users a clear path to get more information on each. There is also an offer with a call to action to download a free trial, and a slider of client logos to add social proof and credibility.
